The Kaplan Commitment ℠

You have the right to make an educated decision about your education. Only at Kaplan University can you take the first 5 weeks of class to decide if you will stay and pursue your studies—or withdraw without any financial obligation beyond the application fee.

That’s how confident we are in the quality of our instructors and programs, and how committed we are to serving our students. That’s the Kaplan Commitment.

Choose from more than 140 degrees and programs in today’s in-demand fields, such as business, IT, criminal justice, and nursing.

Here’s how it works:

  • Enrollment: You’ll attend classes — real classes for real credits. Then decide during our introductory period if we’re right for you. If not, all you owe is the application fee. These classes count toward your degree if completed. During this period, a Kaplan University Financial Aid Advisor will clearly estimate your expected school costs: tuition, books, miscellaneous — everything, including the $45 application fee, as well as your financial aid options should you be eligible.
  • Week One: You’ll begin the five–week introductory period, during which you’ll get exposed to our curriculum, faculty, and classroom or online platforms. If at any point during the introductory period you decide we’re not right for you, you can opt out with no tuition cost or other financial obligation to Kaplan University, except for the $45 application fee.
  • Week Five: This is the checkpoint week. It marks the end of your introductory period, and is the time to let us officially know if you no longer wish to continue. Otherwise, if you’re meeting our academic standards, and have submitted all required documentation, you will move forward with your Kaplan University education. If applicable, you will receive your specific financial aid package.
  • Week Ten: The first term ends (week six for graduate business and IT students). If you meet all academic and course requirements, you will earn your course credits and continue your degree path.
